An article in New Jersey newspaper The Star-Ledger about a breed of bug that infects deer with a lethal virus through its bite, quoted David Stallknecht, associate professor of population health at the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study at UGA. “For whatever reason, we do seem to be getting many more reports than usual, and I’ve been tracking this since 1990,” Stallknecht said.
