Volunteers needed

UGA’s department of kinesiology needs female volunteers to serve as research subjects for an exercise physiology study on the effects of sprint cycle training on insulin resistance, glucose tolerance and central circulation.

Sedentary females ages 18-44 who do not purposefully exercise more than one to two times a week and who are either clinically diagnosed at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes or who are overweight qualify to participate in the study. Women already diagnosed with diabetes are excluded from the study.

The study requires 5-17 sessions over six weeks. Participants will receive information on their aerobic fitness level, bone density, body’s ability to regulate blood glucose levels and percentage of body fat. They also may receive monetary compensation.
