Vince Dooley, received the 2008 Selig Mentorin Award

Vince Dooley, former director of athletics, received the 2008 Selig Mentoring Award from the Division I-A Athletics Directors McLendon Scholarship Steering Committee on June 19 in Orlando, Fla.

The award is presented annually to a person in athletics administration who has been at the forefront in creating equal opportunities for minorities in athletics. Established in 2007, the award honors Major League Baseball Commissioner Allan H. Selig.

Also, in January Dooley will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Paul Bear Bryant Awards committee of the American Heart Association at the Paul Bear Bryant College Football Coaching Awards Dinner in Houston. The award recognizes excellence in coaching on and off the field during a career.
