Vince Dooley, former director of athletics, received the Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award

Vince Dooley, former director of athletics, received the Duffy Daugherty Memorial Award from the Duffy Daugherty Award Committee.

Given annually since 1992, the award honors an individual for outstanding contributions to amateur football. Past recipients have included Bobby Bowden, Joe Paterno, Eddie Robinson, Bo Schembechler, Keith Jackson, Bud Wilkinson and Ara Parseghian.

Dooley was the head coach at UGA from 1964-1988. He won 201 games, six Southeastern Conference titles and the national title in 1980. He was UGA’s athletic director from 1979-2004.
