UGA to offer summer camps, activities

Students in the Georgia Regents University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership teach children enrolled in the one of the recent Georgia Center Summer Academy classes about bones and the body.

From robotics to gymnastics, this summer UGA will offer a variety of activities and academic and athletic camps for toddlers through high school students.

For high school students, the Fanning Institute for Leadership Development is offering programs. Registration deadlines range from April 26-June 1. Additional information is online at www.fanning.uga.edu.

The Georgia Museum of Art will host “Art Adventures: Museum Mysteries” in June and July for groups of five or more, including day camps, day care centers and community centers. Registration ends May 17. For more information or to schedule a group, call 706-542-0448 or email asmoler@uga.edu.

The State Botanical Garden will host several summer camps for children ages 3-13. Campers will learn about earthworms, streams, rivers and several other nature-related topics. The botanical garden also has summer camp junior counselors positions for children ages 13-17.

The Hugh Hodgson School of Music will offer a Summer Music Institute, Summer Music Camp, Summer Marching Band Camp and Summer Twirl and Dance Camp for ages 8 to high school. For more information, visit http://summercamp.uga.edu.

The Summer Academy, sponsored by the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, will offer a series of academically focused summer day camps to keep the minds of 11- to 17-year-olds active during summer break. The UGA Pre-College Summer Program, sponsored by the Georgia Center, will be offered for rising high school juniors and seniors. The program is July 12-27 and the deadline to apply is June 7.

UGA’s Marine Extension is offering Summer Marine Science Camps in Savannah for ages 4-14.
