Jeff Humphreys, director of Terry College’s Selig Center for Economic Growth, was quoted in Nashville’s The Tennessean about that state’s tax-free holiday during the first weekend in August.
“It’s a good story line or headline, a good promotional vehicle for the retail sector,” Humphreys said. “You do get a blip in retail sales, (but) it really doesn’t have an impact on economic development.”
