Franklin College’s anthropology department ran of its two field schools in archaeology this summer on Ossabaw Island, the third largest barrier island in Georgia. Students at the site were exposed to a variety of techniques and instrumentation used in archaeology. In addition to working with traditional archaeological tools like trowels, shovels and line levels, they also worked with ground penetrating radar, magnetic survey and resistivity survey instruments.
