Student dance company to present three nights of Ballroom Magic

The UGA Ballroom Performance Group, a pre-professional student dance company, will present Ballroom Magic Jan. 23-25 at 8 p.m. in the New Dance Theatre at the dance building. Tickets are $16 and $10 for students, seniors and children younger than age 12.

There will be a $5 special rate for groups of eight or more for the Jan. 23 performance and the 2 p.m. matinee performance on Jan. 25.

Tickets can be purchased from the Performing Arts Center or online at pac.uga.edu.

Ballroom Magic is an annual show promoting the appreciation of ballroom dance. In addition to the UGA Ballroom Performance Group, the show will feature guest performances by dance groups from around the Athens community. It also will showcase choreography by the Ballroom Performance Group’s directors, Natalie Cox and Michael Fulford, as well as student and guest performers. The show will offer a variety of choreography, featuring more than 20 numbers in smooth and Latin dancing.

After the UGA performances, Ballroom Magic will travel to the Elbert Theatre where it will be performed Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.

Ballroom Performance Group is a campus organization founded by department of dance professor Mark Wheeler in 1991.
