String quartet to perform at free concert

The UGA Performing Arts Center presents the award-winning Jupiter String Quartet on Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. in Hodgson Concert Hall as part of the Franklin College Chamber Music Series.

The series is celebrating its 30th anniversary season of presenting the finest chamber music concerts free of charge as the university’s gift to the community.

In January 2007, the Jupiter String Quartet won the Cleveland Quartet Award from Chamber Music America, a prize which “honors and promotes a rising young string quartet whose artistry demonstrates that it is in the process of establishing a major career.”

The members of the Jupiter String Quartet are Nelson Lee (violin), Megan Freivogel (violin), Elizabeth Freivogel (viola) and Daniel McDonough (cello).
