Staying off-track

A story in The Chronicle of Higher Education about the evolving role of tenured faculty in academic governance includes quotes from Josh Boldt, a UGA English instructor.

The article reports that with a smaller proportion of tenure-track professors now in academia, some tenured professors are trying to cling to what university governance power they still have. Boldt, who is on the non-tenure track, told The Chronicle, “The great hypocrisy of higher education right now, especially in English departments, is that many professors who teach Marxist theory turn around and just perpetuate this tiered labor structure that
theoretically they’d be completely against.”
