Anna Scheyett, dean of the School of Social Work, and David Okech, an associate professor in the school, were invited to join the 2017 class of Fellows of the Society for Social Work and Research.

The SSWR Fellowship was established to honor and recognize current SSWR members for their individual accomplishments, leadership and contribution to SSWR as a scientific society. The organization’s more than 1,800 members include faculty in schools of social work and other professional schools, research staff in public and private agencies and master’s/doctoral students from more than a dozen countries.

SSWR Fellows serve as role models and mentors for individuals pursuing careers in social work research. The number of inductees in 2017 was approximately 3 percent of the SSWR membership. Scheyett and Okech were recognized as Fellows Jan. 14 at the society’s annual conference, held this year in New Orleans.
