Service-learning workshops

The Office of Service-Learning is holding a series of workshops for faculty and graduate students interested in learning about designing and implementing service-learning enhanced coursework.  

“Introduction to Effective Service-Learning Course Design” will be held Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. until noon.  The workshop will be an introduction to a service-learning course design model with tools to go from initial concept to completed course design and university resources that support community engagement.

“Improving Student Learning Outcomes with Critical Reflection” will be held Oct. 17 from 9-11 a.m. Participants will learn about the fundamentals and best practices of reflection theory with hands-on activities that explore written, verbal, group and visual reflection.  

“Building Effective Community Partnerships for Service-Learning” will be held Nov. 14 from 9-11 a.m. This workshop will explore principles and best practices for creating and assessing healthy partnerships, provide tips for preparing students to work in the community and outline important risk management issues.

The series is offered each semester. All workshops will be held at 1242½ S. Lumpkin St. The registration deadline is a week before the workshop.
