Recreational sports summer youth programming

The Department of Recreational Sports will hold a variety of summer youth programming for faculty, staff and student dependents.

Rec Sports Youth Camp is a full-day program with an emphasis on sports and recreational activities including soccer, swimming, wiffleball, basketball, wall climbing, outdoor games and field trips. Children will be divided into three age groups: 7-8-year-olds, 9-10-year olds and 11-12-year-olds. Three one-week sessions are offered: June 1-4, June 7-11 and June 14-18. Camp from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. is $120, 9 a.m. until 5:15 p.m. is $135 and camp from 7:45 a.m. until 5:15 p.m. is $150. All campers must bring a lunch to camp each day.

Fit Well Teen Camp for ages 13-17 is a new camp designed to teach teenagers the importance of physical activity, proper nutrition and fitness to achieve a healthy lifestyle. This camp is offered in two four-week sessions meeting two times per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. until noon. The first session is June 1-22 and the registration deadline is May 24. The second session is June 29-July 22 with a registration deadline of June 21. Camp fees are $75, or $60 for Ramsey Student Center members.

Learn to Swim Programs will also be available. A printable schedule is available on the Aquatic Programs Forms and Flyers page at www.recsports.uga.edu/aqu_formsflyers.php. Morning and evening lessons are available for all skill levels.

Camp sign-ups can be made at the cashier’s window in the Ramsey Student Center. Openings will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional information is online at www.recsports.uga.edu/abt_youth.php.
