Position announcement

The university invites applications and nominations for the position of associate provost for institutional diversity.

This senior administrator, who serves as a member of the University Cabinet and reports to the senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, will direct the Office of Institutional Diversity and lead a focused institutional effort to evaluate existing programs and develop new initiatives to support diversity and equity at the university.

The Office of Institutional ­Diversity seeks to encourage a campus environment where individuals of different backgrounds and perspectives join together to actively advance knowledge and collaboration.

As a community dedicated to scholarship, research, instruction, and public service and outreach, the Office of Institutional Diversity recognizes the importance of respecting, valuing and learning from each other’s differences while seeking common goals. OID provides the leadership to establish UGA as a model institution in offering creative ways to ­address diversity issues in an ­academic setting.

The associate provost for institutional diversity reports to the senior vice president for academic affairs and provost and advises the provost on diversity issues.The associate provost for institutional diversity collaborates with the vice presidents, deans, other administrators, faculty, staff and students to develop and implement strategies and initiatives that will further institutional diversity goals. A terminal degree is required. Background and experience must show a commitment to broadly defined diversity and inclusion in higher education.
