Political utterance

In a Washington Post article about whether James Webb, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, had ever used “the N-word,” Charles Bullock, a professor of political science explained that, “in much of the South, there was this tremendous transformation from a time when it was a term widely used by politicians making successful appeals to now where it is something that no politician would dare utter.”
