Performing Arts Center’s priority purchase period for UGA employees, students begins

The Performing Arts Center is offering UGA faculty, staff and students a priority purchase period beginning Aug. 22 to order single tickets for the 2005-2006 10th anniversary season. Tickets to the general public go on sale Aug. 29.

The Performing Arts Center’s upcoming season features some of the world’s most outstanding musical talent, including the Cleveland Orchestra, Opera Verdi Europa in Madame Butterfly, the Nylons, country-western ensemble Riders In The Sky, Celtic favorites Ensemble Galilei with singer Jean Redpath, and Arlo Guthrie in the Alice’s Restaurant 40th Anniversary Tour. World-class dance is showcased in a diverse series with Ballet Flamenco Jose Porcel, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and the Russian National Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty.

The Performing Arts Center’s 10th anniversary season opens Sept. 25 with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra conducted by music director Robert Spano in a program featuring the Sibelius Symphony No. 3 and the Brahms Concerto in D for Violin and Orchestra. Many of the Performing Arts Center’s concerts are recorded for broadcast on National Public Radio’s Performance Today, the most popular classical music program on public radio with 1.5 million listeners around the country.
