A recent article by The New York Times monitors the rise of the academic discipline of creativity.

More and more, universities are stressing the importance of creativity as a process to tackle an array of challenges, according to the story.

The article mentions UGA’s Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development in the College of Education as a leader in that trend and quotes Bonnie Cramond, the center’s director.

The Torrance Center has added an interdisciplinary graduate certificate in creativity and innovation. Cramond said that interdisciplinary approaches are important to innovation.

“The new people who will be creative sit at the juxtaposition of two or more fields,” Cramond told the Times
