An alleged cheating scandal in the Atlanta Public School System led to the indictment of 35 educators. A USA Today article earlier this month charted the potential legal process of the defendants.
Ron Carlson, the Fuller E. Callaway Chair of Law Emeritus, is quoted about the unprecedented nature of this case.
“I consider this one of the most important, one of the seminal developments in the history of American education law,” Carlson said. “It’s the largest school teaching scandal yet recorded in the country. A high-profile case like this one puts public attention and public pressure on various moves made by prosecutors and defense attorneys.”
