New e-mail system

The university will have a new e-mail system beginning June 27, when all UGA faculty, staff and students using UGAMail will be migrated to a system based on
Microsoft’s Live@EDU service.

The new system will have e-mail with 10 gigabytes of storage space, better spam protection and mobile phone integration. The system also will include a built-in calendar, Office Live Workspace for collaborative projects and a SkyDrive with 25 gigabytes of free online file storage for faculty, staff and students.

Current e-mail addresses will remain unchanged and users’ e-mail, folders, address books and blocked and safe sender lists will be automatically migrated to the new system. E-mail forwarding settings also should be automatically migrated.

Hands-on training classes will be offered at UGA Training and Development Department from 10 a.m. until noon June 14 and June 21 and from 2-4 p.m. June 17 and 23. Participants should register in advance at https://busfin1.busfin.uga.edu/human_resources/courses/fulldesc.cfm and are encouraged to have attended one of the informational sessions held in May and early June.

Additional training sessions will be announced July 1 at https://busfin1.busfin.uga.edu/human_resources/courses/fulldesc.cfm.
