Manuel Diaz, head tennis coach, is the 2008 U.S. Olympic Committee National Coach of the Year for Tennis.
Part of the USOC Coach of the Year Recognition Program, the program seeks to elevate the status of coaching as a profession and recognize the best coaches in the U.S. Nominees were judged based on coaching performance, ethics and character, the attitude of their athletes, service to the sport and volunteer work within the sport.
Diaz, currently in his 21st year as the head men’s tennis coach at UGA, has led the team to four NCAA championships.
