Luanne Lohr, received the USDA’s Secratary’s Honor Award

Luanne Lohr, a professor of agricultural and applied economics who is on academic leave at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C., received the USDA’s highest award, the Secretary’s Honor Award, in August.

Lohr was part of a team that developed the Food Environment Atlas, an online research tool that helps identify key food access characteristics in U.S. communities, for the Economic Research Service. The atlas was used by first lady Michelle Obama for the launch of her campaign against childhood obesity.
