Leaving an impression

A student walks down the second phase of Brooks Mall where leaves, such as this Big Leaf Magnolia, have been pressed into the concrete of the sidewalk as part of the UGA Arboretum Project.

Currently across campus, there are several individual memorial markers, adjacent to trees, that have been contributed on behalf of deceased individuals affiliated with UGA. Incorporation of the leaves into this phase of the mall will create a physical place in which to house the names of those memorialized by contributions to the Arboretum Endowment Fund. Adjacent to the sidewalk along the edges are cobblestone place markers. As contributions are received, the names of those memorialized will be engraved in one of the granite cobblestones along the walk. Money contributed to the endowment is used for landscape maintenance and additional plantings on campus.
