David P. Landau, Distinguished Research Professor of physics, won the 2007 Nicholson Medal for Human Outreach from the American Physical Society. The award is presented annually to recognize the humanitarian aspect of physics and physicists. Recognition consists of the Nicholson Medal, a certificate and up to $1,500 for travel expenses to the meeting at which the medal will be presented.

Landau received the award for his internationally recognized work in computational physics and his creation and leadership of the UGA Center for Simulational Physics.
