The Performing Arts Center will present Krasnoyarsk National Dance Company of Siberia Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. The company of 50 will perform a program of authentic folk dances, including the popular Cossacks’ Dance, accompanied by musicians playing traditional instruments.

Tickets for Krasnoyarsk are $35-$45 with special discounts for UGA students. Tickets can be purchased at the UGA Performing Arts Center box office, online at pac.uga.edu or by calling 706-542-4400.

The Performing Arts Center will offer a pre-concert lecture 45 minutes prior to the Krasnoyarsk performance. The lecture is open free to the public.

Founded in 1960, Krasnoyarsk now has toured in more than 60 countries. With its fanciful costumes and vivid choreography, the company has earned a reputation as one of the world’s major folk dance companies, garnering glowing reviews from the international press.

“The performance of the Siberian ballet of Krasnoyarsk was an unexpected revelation for us. Parisians have never seen such dashing spirit, such fire and electrifying tension,” wrote the French newspaper France Soir.

The New York Times commented, “Krasnoyarsk knows how to put on a good show. The dancers, who seemed to number in the hundreds in full-company pieces, were charmingly wholehearted and skillful. The staging was sleek and the costumes colorful.”
