John Newton, emergency operations coordinator in the Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness, recently obtained Georgia certified emergency manager status from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.
Newton coordinates and manages the UGAAlert emergency notification system and the building safety and security representatives program that designates primary and back-up emergency planning representatives for each campus building.
