John C. Inscoe won three awards for two books

John C. Inscoe, University Professor and Albert B. Saye Professor of History in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, has won three awards for two books published by UGA Press in 2011.

Writing the South through the South received the Georgia Historical Society’s Malcolm and Muriel Book Award as the Georgia History Book of the Year and the Southern Regional Council’s Lillian Smith Award, co-sponsored by the UGA Libraries. The American Association for State and Local History has given its Leadership in History Award of Merit presented for excellence in history programs and projects to The Civil War in Georgia, a compilation of articles from the online New Georgia Encyclopedia, of which Inscoe serves as editor.
