Parents who provide health, dental or life insurance coverage for their full-time students under the University System of Georgia’s plans must contact UGA Human Resources to cancel the dependent coverage when their student graduates from college.
Otherwise they will continue to be billed for the premiums but the child is not eligible for coverage. Parents who provide continuing proof of their child’s full-time student status can provide coverage until the child reaches age 26.
The only exceptions to the full-time student and age limit provisions are children of any age who have been designated by Blue Cross Blue Shield as permanently disabled dependents. Questions about dependent coverage may be directed to Human Resources at (706) 542-2222 or benefits@uga.edu.
