Gayle Andrews, an associate professor in the middle school education program in the department of elementary and social studies education, received the John H. Lounsbury Award for Distinguished Service, the Association for Middle Level Education’s highest honor.

The Lounsbury Award is presented only when an individual has demonstrated a level of service, scholarship, integrity and leadership in middle level education that warrants this special recognition.

The AMLE, formerly the National Middle School Association, is the premier association for middle level education.

Its more than 30,000 members include principals, teachers, central office personnel, professors, college students, parents, community leaders and educational consultants around the world. Andrews received the award in November.
