Equestrian team wins fifth national crown

They needed two kinds of tie-breakers to settle the issue, but the UGA equestrian team prevailed over Texas A&M University to capture the overall crown at the 2010 Varsity Equestrian National Championships April 17 at Baylor University. The 2010 championship is UGA’s fifth in eight years and third consecutive title at the Heart ’O Texas Fair Complex. It was also a banner day for a pair of UGA sophomores. Michelle Morris and Emma Lipman became the third and fourth Bulldogs to win individual national championships. Morris defeated Ally Blais of Oklahoma State to take the title in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat. Lipman defeated her UGA teammate, freshman Carly Anthony, to win the Equitation over Fences event.
