Drought gets ‘no respect’

The New York Times quoted David E. Stooksbury, state climatologist and an associate professor of biological and agricultural engineering, in an article about Georgia’s drought. Speaking of the drought as the “Rodney Dangerfield of natural disasters,” Stooksbury said, “People pay attention to hurricanes. They pay attention to tornadoes and earthquakes. But a drought will sneak up on you.”
