Diane Bales and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Diane Bales, an associate professor of human development and family science, received $50,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to continue and expand the Better Brains for Babies Initiative. A collaborative effort among public and private organizations throughout Georgia, Better Brains for Babies educates the public about brain development. Family and Consumer Sciences Extension agents have played a major role in developing and implementing this initiative, which promotes critical information about the proper care and nurturing of infants. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to improve the potential of infants by promoting the use of early brain development research to affect children’s everyday life experiences.
