Dartmouth administrator named director of immigration services

Robin Catmur of Dartmouth College joined the Office of International Education as director of international student, scholar and immigration services July 1.

She succeeded Sandy Haagen, who had been serving as interim director since 2008.

As ISSIS director, Catmur will lead a staff of six in assisting international scholars and students on matters related to visas, immigration and health insurance. ISSIS also handles the institutional sponsorship of permanent residency for eligible faculty and staff.

Catmur has more than 10 years of work experience in Dartmouth’s Office of Visa and Immigration Services and served as its director since 2008. She also was the regulatory ombudsperson for New England region division of NAFSA: Association of International Educators and co-chair of its government regulatory advisory committee.

“I am delighted that Robin has joined the senior team in the Office of International Education,” said Kavita Pandit, associate provost for international education. “She brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will allow our office to provide the very best services for our international students, scholars and faculty.”

Raised in India and Canada, among other places, Catmur holds a bachelor’s degree in international development from the University of California at Davis and a master’s degree in globalization studies from Dartmouth College.

The Office of International Education will host an open house to welcome Catmur on July 14 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the third floor conference room of the Bank of America Building. Members of the UGA community are invited to drop by to meet Catmur and the ISSIS staff.
