An Athens Pride march will be held April 21 beginning at noon at Lay Park, 297 Hoyt St., and ending at the Arch. Participants are asked to arrive at the park by 11:30 a.m. Speakers at the Arch include Mayor Nancy Denson; Mike Chadwick, Athens Pride chair; Annette Hatton, founder of GLOBES; Mark Dawkins, Black Faculty and Staff Organization at UGA; Matthew Willis, Lambda Alliance at UGA; Ande Stone, Campaign Against Spiritual Violence at UGA; and Whitney Dekle, Ally Outreach Council at UGA.
After a march back to Lay Park, a family friendly cookout will be held. The activities, sponsored by UGA’s LGBTQ faculty/staff organization, GLOBES, are part of the Worldwide Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Civil Rights March.
