Additions to W-2 forms
The IRS Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statement for 2012 will include new information for employees paying into university-sponsored health care plans. The amount will be shown in box 12 of the form and will include the total of the health insurance premium paid by the employee plus the amount paid by the university. The health care coverage amount will not increase taxable income and should not be reported on the employee's tax return.
